I’m Bittersvveetheart, but it’s easier to call me Vanessa.
Growing up in Indonesia, I spent most of my childhood figuring out what I wanted to be. But at 14 years old, I knew that I wanted to download The Conjuring movie on my phone. Unknowingly so, that moment was the butterfly effect that changed the trajectory of my life.
Although drawing has always been a hobby of mine, my pursuit to be a professional artist started in 2020 as a freelance illustrator, and eventually, tattooing.
What mostly inspires my art is the human experience, how we all have beautiful, unsettling, dark, and bittersweet feelings within us [also loads of horror movies]. Hopefully, my art can make people be more open with themselves.
To quote Sylvia Plath, “I took a deep breath and listened to the old brag of my heart. I am, I am, I am.”
