Arcane alley art fair.

“When I was still living in Melbourne, one of the things that I’d like to do on my spare time is going to art fairs. It’s no wonder I carry this tradition back home to Jakarta. Arcane Alley was one of the first art fairs that I attended, right on halloween. Seeing all the horror, the romance, the art; costumes, fake blood, people dancing, laughing, and just this complete embrace in the things they don’t often show or afraid to show in their everyday lives. The fun of witnessing it all, made me remember my 12 year old self watching her first horror movie with her friends on the living room.

This year, not only I wanted to attend the art fair, I wanted to be a part of it. I simply just wanted to have fun”

Breakfast, lunch, and sanity.

“Being in long periods of isolation has led to big confrontations. Through doing the everyday mundane stuff, there was this overwhelming amount of anxiety that needed to be looked at. Later came the fears, the disappointments, the crying, and the depressing realisation that things will never be the same. But when the storm cleared out, it reintroduced the very good thing that makes waking up bearable; change. It became easier to accept life and its obstacles, it became easier to manage thoughts. And through the efforts of maintaining a positive environment, it became easier to be better.

This phase of life is the foundation and inspiration of Breakfast, Lunch, and Sanity, in which each illustration depicts a fragment of thoughts, emotions, epiphanies, and events that occurred during a young adult’s life. It is overall a visual diary of the things that have happened so far, the remains of what once was, and the hopefulness of what things will become.”

Originally, the collection had 20 digital illustrations in total, completely freehanded. They had their first exhibition on ‘Red Gallery’ in 2022 and made a final appearance on ‘Platform Exhibitions’ in 2024.

More than 15 artworks have been purchased since the first opening night, with one being donated to the RMIT visual arts auction and several for the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF).

A new exhibition is in the works. Will update soon.
